Holy One,

You gave
life to
this earth.

You created
us and
gave us
this beautiful
place to live.

Its soil gives
us the means
to feed ourselves.

Its atmosphere
fills our lungs
with oxygen.

Its beauty inspires
us.  Poets
extol its
magnificence.

You commissioned
us to be good
stewards
of this planet.

We have
failed in
many ways.

We plow
fence to fence
allowing fertilizers
and pesticides
to suffocate the
streams, rivers
and seas.

We fill the air
with noxious
gases.  Choking
our children.

Light and
noise accost
our eyes and ears.

We are
harming
ourselves
and all creation.

We can stop.

Help us
to see
we all have
a part in
bringing
about change.

Each day
we can work
to make
the small parcel
of earth
we occupy
healthier.

One of the
lights of your
love has left us.

As we reflect
on her life,
we know
that her presence
on this earth
was a blessing.

Examining our
own lives,
we know
we could do
more to reflect
your love.

We can
show more
compassion
and tolerance.

We can
be more
respectful.

We can
pursue
justice
for those
with no
voice.

Your
love is
a gift to us.

It is a gift
we can share
with everyone.

We can
become
lights of
your love.

As hers was,
our lives can
be a blessing
to others.

Giver of Life,
Creator of the Universe,
are you with us
as you
were with
our ancestors?

Do you speak
to us, guiding us
today?

Having created us
have you now
abandoned us?

The problems
we face
are so difficult.
They seem
insurmountable.

Speak to us
as you spoke
to Jesus,
Mohammad
and Buddha.

They heard
you and became
your voice
in a troubled
world.

Unstop our ears,
still our mouths
that we may
hear your
message
of peace,
justice and love.

Praise be to you, oh Great Creator.
You are the Holy One who holds all our past stories,
guides our stories into the future and is the
keeper of all of our secrets.

Oh Gentle Spirit,
You look for each of us in all the corners of the earth.
Pick us up Lover of our Souls.
Carry us in Your arms, keep us close and
let us feel Your love.


We thank you and praise you for touching our hands
and giving us purpose. They now have work to do,
ways to play and the ability to nurture others and ourselves.

We thank and praise you for voices that are quiet,
or loud. It is through your generosity that we are able to be
compassionate and loving toward others. It is also through your
generosity that we can express with loud voices the things
that need to be changed in the world.

Thank you all Compassionate One
for the ways You lead us through the muddy waters of life.
You are the One that provides us with the power to shine a light
on ways to solve problems, care for one another and find our
sense of humor in these experiences. Your light helps us grow through these times and gain insight.

Spirit of Hope

This week we
turn away
from darkness
towards new
light.

At year's
end, we
look forward
to new hopes
and dreams
for all creation.

We hope
for peace
between
enemies.

We hope
for justice
for all
wrongly
accused.

We hope
for freedom
for all
who are
oppressed

Creator,
you have
given us
prophets
and teachers
whom you
filled with
your holy
spirit.

A spirit
filled
with love
for all.

Let their
lives show
us how
to be givers
of love
and hope.

We are ordinary
people.  People
walking through
life trying to
be our best
selves, sharing
our lives with
family and
friends.

We don't
see ourselves
as heroic
or brave.

Most of us
do not see
ourselves as
leaders;
strong
enough
to make
a difference.

During this
month of

miracles,
we celebrate
ordinary people.
People who
believed in You.

People aware
of their
divinity.
Your holy
presence
within themselves.

Give us the
insight to
realize we
have Your
holy presence
and
divinity
within us too.

Make us
believers.

Believers
who can
be heroic,
brave and
strong enough
to bring
change and
promote
peace, justice,
respect and
love to this earth.

Holy One,

During this month
of light, hope, love
and miracles
our days
are filled
with noise
and activities
leaving us
without room
for quiet
contemplation.

We
are often
too busy
to center
ourselves
and in silence
know that You
are with us.

As we move
through this month
of frenetic activity,
help us take
time to breathe
deeply, creating
the space we
need to hear
Your voice
and feel
Your Presence.
