Holy One,

You gave
life to
this earth.

You created
us and
gave us
this beautiful
place to live.

Its soil gives
us the means
to feed ourselves.

Its atmosphere
fills our lungs
with oxygen.

Its beauty inspires
us.  Poets
extol its
magnificence.

You commissioned
us to be good
stewards
of this planet.

We have
failed in
many ways.

We plow
fence to fence
allowing fertilizers
and pesticides
to suffocate the
streams, rivers
and seas.

We fill the air
with noxious
gases.  Choking
our children.

Light and
noise accost
our eyes and ears.

We are
harming
ourselves
and all creation.

We can stop.

Help us
to see
we all have
a part in
bringing
about change.

Each day
we can work
to make
the small parcel
of earth
we occupy
healthier.
